Congratulations on your new bundle! Thank you for considering me to capture this amazing new stage in your life! Newborns have very specific needs so it is very important that all of these steps are followed in order to have a successful shoot.

  • I prefer to shoot babies within the first 14 days of life for a few different reasons.  Those first two weeks are when babies sleep the most and are more likely to stay asleep and beautifully curled up for those gorgeous posed shots. Past 14 days, babies are much more difficult to soothe and get to cooperate for photos.

  • There is no such thing as booking too early! I only offer a select number of newborn sessions per month and the slots often fill up fast. So even if you just got a positive pregnancy test, contact me so I can make sure we can get you on the schedule.

  • Newborn sessions are done in the comfort of your home. You bring the baby, I bring all of the other stuff!

  • Newborn sessions are only scheduled during the week, and in the mid-morning (usually when babies are sleepiest).

  • I used to say to keep baby awake for a certain period of time before the photo shoot, but I've found the more we stick to baby's normal schedule, the better!

  • Please feel free to bring a pacifier to help soothe baby for shots if needed. However, Soothie pacifiers are best as they don't leave marks on baby's face.

  • Be prepared to feed baby as soon as I get to your home. I am a breastfeeding  mama myself, so please do not feelt embarassed or shy if you are nursing!

  • Any item that will be touching a baby  (receiving blankets, backdrops, etc) are washed prior to your arrival. I only use All Free and Clear detergent. â€‹

  • Please make sure your home is warm! I request that the room we will be shooting in is kept at 85 degrees. Cold babies won't settle!

A typical newborn session will last 2 hours. After that (and sometimes before) we will take a few minutes to cool off. At this time I will have you feed baby. Full tummies make for sleepy little ones.

What to Wear

For mamas, I request a white tank top (something that your bra straps won't show under) and I tell Dads to wear a white t-shirt. Please make sure the items you wear are free of logos as well as stains, holes, etc (I know my husband's white shirts look VERY loved, haha).

For siblings I like to do nice and simple as well. Solid colors are best. Whites or pastels (light pink, blue etc).

For hair and makeup if you plan on getting detailed- natural is best. Don't overdo anything! Loose curls are always beautiful, and just a subtle amount of eyeliner and mascara. Please also make sure your nails are free of paint chips or bright colored polish.

You don't need to bring anything specific for baby (unless there is something you want them photographed in) as I much prefer more natural style so baby is usually naked or wrapped. I have *plenty* of props on hand!

The most important step of all: RELAX! I'm here to give you a bit of a break! If you have any questions or concerns please don't hesitate to contact me.
