I think the biggest misconception when it comes to photos with families and groups is what everyone needs to match. You don't go to the grocery store in matching white polos, why would you do it in your photos? Wear items that compliment each other, don't match.

Try to choose one color family for everyone. For examples, everyone could be in cool colors such as blues, purples and grays.

Please, no loud prints or colors! We want the focus on you, not on your clothing. Remember, you are wearing the clothing, don't let it wear you. Also, avoid graphics and logos. Solids or patterns that aren't too busy are always a good choice.

Be aware of your clothes. By this, I mean be mindful to how low a top is, or how short a dress is. You don't want to need to feel like you have to adjust your clothes every time you move.

For hair and makeup, I recommend scouring Youtube for some tutorials. Doing your makeup for photos is a lot different than makeup for every day life. And if you are able, why not treat yourself to a little pampering? Go to a salon for a professional finish!

Please make sure that nails are clean and free of chipped polish. It seems insignificant, but chipped polish can be a huge distraction in a photo.
